![]() ![]() Mut was born in 1963 on Koh Yao Noi at Phang Nga Province. it is a pitty that this peaceful place will loose its very special atmosphere very soon. We have operated the most highly awarded sea-kayaking business in southern Thailand for over. We can recomment koh roi very very much.the visit there was without question one of the highlights during our stay in thailand this time. also there is a colony of flying dogs who sleep during daytime in some of the bigger trees which grow on this encjhanted place. it is so quiet inside that it is possible to hear the fallen sweetwaterdrops inside this steep and very deep hole in the mountain. it is very easy to go thru and after maybe ten meters somethings lika a "dry lagoon" with endemic vegetation and sweetwater reservoir presents itself to the visitor. at beach number one there is a small cave in the rock formation. Koh Yao Noi itself is worth exploring with its traditional architecture, abundant wildlife, rubber plantations and rice fields. Koh roi has a big hidden surprise in it center of the island. Perfectly situated to explore jaw-dropping Phang Nga Bay, a number of tour operators offer kayak, snorkelling and boat trips. the whole time no other boat arrived and we felt like robinson crusoe. Tickets cost 120 and the journey takes 1h. we arrived on koh roi in the morningtime around 10 o´clock and we shared the island with a few local shell seekers. Alternatively, RocknRow Thailand operates a ferry from Ban Tha Len Krabi to Koh Yao Noi once daily. the beaches are small, each one not longer than 100 meters, but both are realy breathtaking. ![]() The island has two beautiful sandy beaches, which are reachable mutually per feet thru hipdeep water during low tide. ![]() There is also one 7-Eleven located in the main village, as well as a number of ATM’s that take Visa and Mastercard. We found koh roi during a longtailboattrip in the north of koh yao noi and without question koh roi will get a magnet in the next years, because what nature created there is realy very extraordinary. However it is important to be respectful when drinking and not to take alcohol into the local villages and towns. Most of the restaurants in the tourist areas do serve alcohol and there are also some that do takeaway, including the minimart located on Klong Jark Beach. When it comes to drinking, as the island is majority Muslim, alcohol is not available on parts of the island other than the touristy areas. Don’t forget to try what’s in season, Dragonfruit, Lime and Papaya in the dry season, Lychee, Rambutan and Mango in the wet season. And then there are the fruit shakes, made using fresh fruit grown on the island. For the vegetarians we recommended the Garden Café, situated in a lovely garden setting about 5 minutes drive from the centre of town. For cheap Rotis and pretty sunsets visit the family run Gold Seafood restaurant in the northern part of Pasai Beach. The island’s population is 90% Muslim so pork isn’t available, but you can find most traditional Thai dishes made using a mix of other ingredients and locally sourced produce.įor a lovely, reasonably priced waterfront meal try Sabai Corner in the island’s south. All you would want for your island getaway.Īs 70% of Koh Yao Noi’s inhabitants work in the fishing industry seafood is one of the top choices for food on the island and you can find seafood on nearly every menu. Many of the island’s restaurants are set up in a unique Thai style, boasting bamboo interiors, low tables and comfortable Thai-style cushions. Koh Yao Noi is not short of locally run cafes and restaurants that serve a delicious range of Thai and International cuisines. ![]()
