Real-time, collaborative editing lets you work on the project even when you can’t meet in person.In-line comments let you discuss the project right on the page.It offers all the benefits of a more traditional app such as Google Docs: Finding a time when everyone can meet outside of class is difficult, and coordinating things via text is a mess.Īs an alternative, we suggest using Notion. Nobody likes group projects, but you’re bound to be part of one at some point in your college career.Īside from ensuring that everyone contributes, communication is one of the biggest challenges when doing a group project. The same task list from the previous screenshot displayed as a kanban board.Īs a starting point for managing your assignments and schedule in Notion, have a look at this student dashboard template. But if you need to focus on how you’ll do an assignment, Notion will show your tasks on a kanban board. If you’re focused on when you need to complete an assignment, you can view all of your tasks on a calendar. You also have lots of options for visualizing your assignments and class schedule. An example task list in Notion from Thomas Frank’s Ultimate Tasks template. No matter the assignment, Notion will help you complete it. And with Notion’s database features, you can set due dates, recurring tasks, and more. At the most basic, you can make checklists on any Notion page. But you can also use it to keep track of your class assignments and other obligations.Īs we mentioned in the intro, Notion has many to-do list and project management features. Notion is great for organizing notes and other materials for a specific class. To get a sense of what’s possible with note-taking in Notion, check out our free template: A multi-column layout in Notion, taken from Thomas Frank’s Note-Taking System template. Married taxpayers could receive the exclusion with respect to benefits paid both spouses.įAFSA applications: The IRS also on Friday added new FAQ 3 to Topic I: Post Unemployment Compensation Exclusion Adjustment, advising that, based on information from the Department of Education, applicants filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should do so according to its instructions and afterward check with their school's financial aid office regarding any financial changes, including an exclusion of unemployment benefits, that may have affected their financial aid. In either case, the IRS recalculated those returns applying the exclusion of up to $10,200 of unemployment benefits paid in 2020, if the taxpayer's modified adjusted gross income was less than $150,000. By that date, some taxpayers had already filed 2020 tax returns including the unemployment benefits, or did so afterward. 117-2, on March 11, 2021, with respect to the 2020 tax year. The unemployment exclusion was enacted as part of the American Rescue Plan Act, P.L. Taxpayers must reply to the notices to receive the credit or credits (although the notice is not confirmation they are eligible for them) but do not have to file an amended return. FAQs G8 and G9 note that taxpayers might receive a CP08 or CP09 notice from the IRS advising that they did not claim the additional child tax credit or earned income tax credit, respectively, but may now be eligible for one of those credits as a result of the IRS's exclusion of unemployment benefits from their income. Notices CP08 and CP09: The two tax credit FAQs were added to the page's Topic G: Receiving a Refund, Letter, or Notice. The IRS also addressed a possible complication for FAFSA applicants. Taxpayers whose 2020 income tax returns were revised by the IRS to exclude unemployment benefits from gross income may be eligible for the additional child tax credit or earned income tax credit as a result, the IRS advised in two frequently asked questions (FAQs) it added Friday to its 2020 Unemployment Compensation Exclusion FAQs webpage. “The best students in the world in number theory all want to study with Terry,” Chan added. What is also amazing is that Terry is still so young. The way he crosses areas would be like the best heart surgeon also being exceptional in brain surgery. People all over the world say, ‘UCLA’s so lucky to have Terry Tao.’ He has solved important problems in several areas of mathematics that have stumped others for a long time. “Someone like Terry comes along once every few decades. “I’m not surprised,” said Tony Chan, dean of the Division of Physical Sciences and professor of mathematics. Terry can unravel an enormously complicated mathematical problem and reduce it to something very simple.” He’s an incredible talent, and probably the best mathematician in the world right now. Mathematicians with Terry’s talent appear only once in a generation. “Terry is like Mozart mathematics just flows out of him,” said John Garnett, professor and former chair of mathematics at UCLA, “except without Mozart’s personality problems everyone likes him. In the 70 years the prize has been awarded by the International Mathematical Union, only 48 researchers ever have won it. Common combinations of these are packaged together as an instance, and instances are grouped into a Series. Now you need to break away from the traditional "pick and mix" of server hardware configuration, as you're not going to individually select the CPU Cores, RAM and temporary storage. This can be ok for a test/sandbox server or something that processes data with no time constraints. Low-priority VMs can be used in a set with other machines, but these take advantage of unused capacity in Azure and can be stopped & deallocated at any time. The machine sizes that support Basic tier also have a lower maximum spec than Standard tier sizes, and lower max disk IOPS. Basic VMs do not include the ability to do load balancing at the network port level, use automatic scaling or use Azure Disk Encryption. This cost reduction comes with some functionality trade-offs. Standard is the default tier, while Basic and Low Priority are cheaper options. The next decision is which Tier - Basic, Low Priority or Standard? Just note the virtual machine pricing includes the operating system license. Picking a Region (geographical location of the Azure data center), an operating system and a type (if you want to add BizTalk or SQL) is fairly self-explanatory. You're looking at what the ongoing cost would be to deliver this workload from Azure, instead of buying new hardware.Īdding a Virtual Machine to the pricing calculator will present you with a few decisions to make, some of which will influence the estimated cost. So let’s start with a typical scenario - you have an ageing server which is experiencing performance issues due to an increase in the number of users and replacement parts are getting harder to source. This article won't walk you through the point and click details of the calculator, but it will give you an understanding of the different components. There are a few tools to help you manage your costs once you are up and running, but the first experience that most people have with Microsoft Azure costs involves the Azure Pricing Calculator. The good news is that your Cloud spend isn't locked in - it's flexible and will be adjusted as you adjust your workloads. This may not be a one-off cost you're funding as a project – it may be a long term commitment to a monthly spend. With services in the Cloud charging on a "Pay as you go" model, there's a nervousness to calculate Cloud spend accurately, keeping in mind your organization's operational expenditure budgets. Defining a Cloud version of that same capability can be a little trickier. Most infrastructure architects can clearly detail their on-premises capability or requirements, often accompanied by a Visio diagram. There are plenty of rhythmic and instrumental loops, too - just drag them into the Timeline and start creating - and Apple’s excellent Drummer enables you to create customised drum tracks to fit your projects. Not only can you record audio - your guitar or mic, for example - but you also get a strong selection of software instruments that can be played from a MIDI keyboard. The most famous free DAW of them all comes bundled with every Mac, and makes it ridiculously easy for pretty much anyone to start making music. They were later told the devastating news that Phillip had died. The family was told to return home and wait for an update. We both decided to go to the Humber Bridge and look in both directions."īy the time they arrived at the bridge, a police scene was already in place with multiple officers at the scene. As I walked along I started thinking, 'Would he do it?' so I went home and rang his mum, Linda, and while I was on the phone I heard a helicopter above. She told the court: "I had seen Phil at the bottom of the road with his suitcase and two black bin bags. Speaking at the inquest on Tuesday, July 12, his stepmother Karen Davison said Phillip told her he intended to end his life. On the day he died, Phillip left Mulberry House (Great Oaks Mental Health Hospital) and travelled to his hometown of Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire, with two black bin bags and a suitcase containing his belongings. This is the ratio of the time of flow of 200 ml of fluid to the time of flow of 200 ml of water at the same temperature in a standardized Engler viscosity meter. It is sometimes expressed in terms of centistokes (cS or cSt) 1 stokes 100 centistokes 1 cm 2 s 1 0.0001 m 2 s 1. The dynamic viscosity (Greek letter eta) is normally given in millipascal-seconds (mPas) and is usually determined by using a rotary viscometer. The physical unit for kinematic viscosity is the stokes (St), named after George Stokes. For higher viscosities, SSF (Saybolt Seconds Furol) is used. When smokers stop smoking, they typically feel the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal: irritability, anxiety, depression, increased appetite and more. Not so with the nicotine replacement products, which deliver nicotine safely. Inhaled through a cigarette, nicotine is addictive. They are varenicline (also called Chantix) and bupropion (also called Zyban or Wellbutrin). There are prescription medications designed to help people quit, too ask your doctor about these. The most common of these medications are nicotine replacement products, including over-the-counter ones such as the patch, gum and lozenges. Many people find that the easiest (or perhaps the least difficult) way to quit is weaning off cigarettes while using nicotine replacement medications and some kind of counseling or support group. Studies have found that people are two to three times more likely to be smoke-free a year after their quit date with a combination of counseling and medications, compared with those who don’t use those tools.
